This project, Fund Open Networks That Connect Communities for Impact, is about building open networks that connect communities rather than extract value. The goal is to create interoperable tools and shared infrastructure that empower volunteers, local groups, researchers, educators, and small organizations to collaborate across silos. Donations help sustain core software, hosting, governance, and accessibility so that these networks remain open and usable over the long term. The work is designed to scale with community participation, ensuring that beneficial connections persist beyond any single project or individual.
Our approach emphasizes practical outcomes. By funding modular platforms, we enable neighborhoods, libraries, and grassroots organizations to coordinate on resources, share best practices, and learn from collective experimentation. The project is guided by open principles and a commitment to inclusivity, privacy, and reliable access for people regardless of language or circumstance. Updates In the most recent cycle, we launched an initial modular planner, opened translation work in six languages, and began a formal open governance track. These steps are designed to increase participation, reduce barriers to entry, and provide clearer feedback loops for contributors and supporters alike.
